Safety Instructions for a Photoshoot with a Horse

Before the photoshoot with a horse begins, the Client must read these Safety Instructions.

1. The Client acknowledges that a photoshoot involving a horse carries an increased risk of injury, falls, bites, kicks, being stepped on, and other unforeseen incidents, and accepts full responsibility for participating in the photoshoot. The Client confirms that their participation is voluntary and informed.

2. Although horses are generally friendly and non-aggressive, they are very strong, large animals and may be easily frightened. This can cause sudden movements, lunging, attempts to flee, and similar reactions.

3. Keep clear of the horse’s hind legs:

   • Do not approach closely from behind.

   • Do not stand or remain near the hind legs.

   • Do not walk behind the horse.

4. Approach the horse from the side at a calm walking pace so that the animal can see you and is aware of your presence. Do not appear suddenly directly in front of the horse at close range or from behind.

5. Do not make loud noises, shout, scream, or whistle near the horse. Sudden movements and waving your arms, clothing, or objects towards the horse are prohibited, as these may seriously frighten the animal and trigger a dangerous reaction.

6. Pay close attention to the horse’s behaviour. If it shows signs of agitation or fear, such as a tense posture, sudden movements, or tossing its head, give the animal space, move to a safe distance, and wait for instructions from the trainer or instructor.

7. Always treat the horse calmly and gently. Rough handling, hitting, pulling on the bridle, slapping, or any other actions that cause pain or discomfort are prohibited.

8. It is strictly prohibited to put your fingers near the horse’s mouth or attempt to feed it by hand without the trainer’s explicit instructions and supervision, as the animal may bite severely or accidentally bite off a finger.

9. During the photoshoot, mobile phones must be set to silent mode. Do not use loud ringtones, play loud music, or use flashes or torches without the photographer’s and trainer’s approval, as these may frighten the horse.

10. The Client agrees to strictly follow the instructions of the trainer, instructor, groom, and photographer regarding posing, moving around the location, approaching the horse, interacting with the animal, and using props and clothing. If the Client refuses to follow instructions, the photographer may stop the photoshoot for safety reasons.

Clothing and Footwear Requirements

1. Sturdy, enclosed footwear with firm soles is mandatory for a photoshoot with a horse. Footwear that fully covers the foot and heel, such as boots or ankle boots, is recommended, preferably with a low, stable heel.

2. Taking part in the photoshoot in any of the following is strictly prohibited:

   • Bare feet.

   • Flip-flops, sliders, beach slippers, or rubber slippers.

   • Sandals or any open footwear.

   • Thin, soft footwear or footwear that can easily slip off.

   Such footwear does not protect the feet from being stepped on by the horse, slipping, or other injuries, and is not permitted at the photoshoot location.

3. The Client acknowledges these footwear requirements and must arrive wearing appropriate footwear. If the clothing and footwear requirements are not met, the photographer or trainer may refuse to proceed with the photoshoot involving the horse or restrict interaction with the animal to the safest possible level.

Rules for Children

1. If children are present during the photoshoot, their parents or legal guardians must ensure that they follow all the rules above and the instructions of the trainer, instructor, and photographer.

2. Children must not shout, make loud noises, run, wave their arms or objects, push one another, or play around the horse, as this may seriously frighten or distress the animal.

3. Parents must remain beside their child at all times, provide physical support to keep the child safe when near the horse, and never leave the child alone with the animal without supervision by an adult and the trainer.

4. Before the photoshoot, parents must explain the rules of conduct at the stables and/or the chosen photoshoot location to their children and ensure that each child understands the rules and is prepared to follow them.

Responsibilities of the Parties

1. The photographer must familiarise the Client with the safety rules before the photoshoot and explain the potential risks involved.

2. The Client confirms that they have received and read these Safety Instructions and understand all provisions. The Client agrees to follow these rules personally and to communicate them to all participants they invite to the photoshoot.

3. The Client assumes full responsibility for their own health and the health of any accompanying persons and children they bring to the photoshoot, as well as for any damage caused through their fault, or the fault of those accompanying them, to property, horses, the photographer’s equipment, or the facilities and equipment at the photoshoot location.

4. The Client acknowledges that the photographer is not the owner of the horse and cannot fully control its behaviour. The photographer is therefore not responsible for unforeseen reactions of the animal that occur through no fault of the photographer, trainer, or staff at the photoshoot location.
